Most Popular Video Game Franchises by State
While Google Trends can give a decent indication of what fans are interested in, one could argue that it would make more sense to look at sales data. One could also point out that it’s not necessarily fair to compare franchises likeStar WarsandSpider-Manto other video games. After all,Star Warsis primarily a film franchisewhileSpider-Manis a comic book franchise. It would be interesting to see what the results would have been had they been removed, and the study focused exclusively on pure video game franchises.
Otherwise, there aren’t many surprises in the list.Call of Duty,Pokemon,Resident Evil, andSuper Marioare some of the longest-running and most popular video game franchises of all time, so it makes sense that they would appear frequently on a list like this.
