Anti Cheat efforts are paying off in Rainbow Six Siege.

Rainbow Six Siege notices a decline in cheaters

Over the past few updates, Ubisoft has renewed its focus on ensuring the game remains free of cheaters. In the latest update, the developers have expressed satisfaction at the fact that one of the biggest cheat vendors has exited the space.

Furthermore, the number of cheater reports has been trending downward since October 2024. Ubisoft says cheater reports have decreased by over 40% compared to the highs of 2024 and by 30% year-on-year.

What’s next in Rainbow Six Siege?

There’s a new Mousetrap penalty system that works to detect devices that enable the use of a mouse and keyboard on the console. Players often attempt to gain an upper hand over other console players by using a mouse and keyboard.

If the Mousetrap system detects such spoofers three times then the guilty players will be forced onto the PC matchmaking pool with PC recoil enabled for 90 days. This means they will be matched against other PC players ensuring fair gameplay.

We are confident in our detection, though we know that some players have been able to bypass detection this season. This bypass method is currently being investigated, and we’ll be enabling a fix for this soon.

There are still some players that have been able to bypass the Mousetrap system. The blogpost also highlights how the anti-toxicity team has dealt with cheaters and their impact on the game so far.

Automated Text Chat Moderation

Abuse via text chat is prevalent in large numbers in Rainbow Six Siege. However, it is also easily detectable and the developers have automated most of this process. Some of the text chats, however, have been wrongly flagged and as such the developers are working on finetuning this system.

To be transparent, the developers have highlighted some of the phrases that were wrongly flagged in the past few months. Needless to say, they are focused on resolving such penalties and are using player feedback to refine the system.

The Reputation System refresh has ensured that negative communication receives the requisite punishment. Players are conscious of what they type in chat completely aware of the Automated Text Chat Moderation system that punishes guilty players automatically.
