Pictures of what appear to be the developer kit for the next Microsoft console were posted on theAssemblerGames forums, though they have since been removed. Speaking to the poster responsible — who jokingly asked for $10,000 in exchange for the Durango dev kit and was then banned from AssemblerGames — Digital Foundry has come to the conclusion that these photos are legitimate.
The leaked images were “acknowledged as genuine by reliable sources we know to be working on AAA next-gen games,” stated the website. According to another source, the system itself is said to be 64-bit, and porting over existing DirectX 11 engines from PC toDurangowould be doable.

The original poster, who goes by the name of DaE, also posted a screenshot of Microsoft Visual Studio for the new console; it too appears to be authentic. In case you hadn’t ever seen what dev kits look like before, yeah, they’re not exactly sexy.
