Gone are the days of fighting for neutral item drops in Dota 2. With Neutral Tokens, players now have exclusive neutral item inventory.
Don’t you just hate it when your teammates hog all the best neutral items? Or worse, when they decide to grief the game for not getting the neutral item they want because someone else has already taken it? Thankfully, Dota 2 patch 7.33 has a fix for you with a brand new neutral item drops system. Introducing Neutral Tokens.
How do Neutral Tokens work?
In this new system, neutral creeps no longer drop neutral items. Instead, they drop medallion-looking objects called Neutral Tokens. When players consume one of these tokens, they will receive a random list of five neutral items to choose from. Once they select an item, it will remain in their inventory throughout the game and is not shareable. There are five tokens available for each neutral item tier level. Each player gets to use one token per tier level.
No longer fighting over the same neutral item drops in Dota 2
It is important to know that you are stuck with the same options from any Neutral Token for each tier. So don’t bother waiting on the next token to see what other choices you might have. Furthermore, other players may also have some of the same item choices within their list. For example, if all players have Pig Poles as an option from their Tier 1 Neutral Token, they can select them and start a hog-fest.
This will certainly help reduce the number of conflict between players who want the same neutral item drops like from the previous Dota 2 patch. However, it is probably best if you communicate with your teammates on which neutral items to get in order to improve your synergy and odds of winning the game.
