There were many new faces added in the new arc that Dawntrail brought toFinal Fantasy XIV, but among them was a cute little vegetable who quickly managed to steal hearts — The Cornservant. He feeds the poor, and now he’s back for more.

Patch 7.2 adds a single new Cornservant quest to complete, and doing so will reward you with a particularly bizarre new little friend to follow you around on your adventures. The Deathservant has strange tastes, and while it’s definitely odd, it’s also charming in its own weird little way.

How to get the Deathservant minion in FFXIV

Before you may even consider getting the Deathservant minion, you’ll need to complete every other Cornservant quest from patch 7.0. This is easier said than done, with each quest being tied to a different part of the MSQ, but don’t worry; we’ve got you covered with acomplete guide to all Cornservant quests.

Once you’ve completed that checklist of fun little quests and fallen head over heels in love with the sentient corn, you’re able to then head to Tuliyollal and find him perched at the end of the dock to the east of Aunt Tii’s Tacos (X:16.4, Y:12.8) to pick up the level 100  quest “When Death Comes to Dinner”.

Once you’ve talked to him and discussed recent events, you’ll need to talk to him again to have him accompany you. Head up to the Bayside Bevy (X:15.5, Y:12.1) and talk to the Cornservant again, but make sure to stop in any discussion spots along the way to revisit the people you helped in previous quests.

Upon discovering the Pelupelu, who is the source of the rumblings heard by the Cornservant, and discovering that they have some particularly macabre cravings, the Cornservant will call out the demon possessing the innocent Pelupelu, and you’ll get your first glimpse of the sentient blade that will come to be known as the Deathservant.

You’ll be given two options — slay it or feed it. It doesn’t matter which option you choose, you’re going to end up adopting the Deathservant for yourself, hoping that the blood of your enemies is enough to quench its taste for death. As it happens, we have a lot of enemies, so this bizarre little friend is in good hands.

Once the cutscene is over, talk to the Deathservant nearby, and he will be yours, joining you on your travels moving forward. Just be careful. If you get sudden cravings for blood, at least you know the cause. You’ll also get a serving of Tacos de Carne Asada for your troubles.
