How Hearthstone Battlegrounds Tavern spells work
Spells in the Tavern refer to a new option in Hearthstone Battlegrounds. They can be bought directly from the Tavern itself. Much like minions, spells also have Tavern Tiers. However, unlike minions, spells have variable costs.
Additionally, spells get their own card frame while they’re in the Tavern. These frames indicate their cost and Tavern Tier. For example, in the screenshot above, the Recruit a Trainee spell is a Tier 1 spell in the Tavern. It also requires two coins to cast.
Other examples of Tavern spells include Staff of Enrichment, Jaws of Fate, the Tavern Coin, Pointy Arrow, Fortify, Tavern Dish Banana, Them Apple, Enchanted Lasso, Careful Investment, Overconfidence, and more.

Hearthstone Battlegrounds: Spells in the Tavern
According to Blizzard, Hearthstone Battlegrounds patch 28.2 features 42 new spells across the six Tavern Tiers. Whenever you refresh the Tavern, it will have a spell of your current Tavern Tier or lower in addition to the typical number of minions on offer.
“When you buy a Tavern spell, it’s added to your hand, for you to use whenever you want,“Blizzard added. It should also be noted that much like Blood Gems in Hearthstone Battlegrounds, the new spells cannot be tripled and are spent after they’re played.
