HEROIC played exceptionally well despite having their coach as a stand-in.

Team Spirit and HEROIC advanced to the Group A upper bracket final at the BLAST Premier Fall Groups following victories over OG and Complexity on July 29.

As analysts predicted beforehand, OG failed to hold on to Danil “donk” Kryshkovets and Dmitriy “sh1ro” Sokolov’s combined firepower with Thomas “Thomas” Utting as an emergency stand-in. HEROIC, on the other hand, surprised just about everybody as they defeated Complexity with the head coach Eetu “sAw” Saha standing in for Abdulkhalik “degster” Gasanov, who missed the opener due to travel issues.

Now, while HEROIC and Spirit will play in the Group A upper bracket final on July 30, Complexity and OG will fight against elimination on the same day.

Spirit dismantle OG at BLAST Premier Fall Groups

It was overall an easy victory for Spirit as it never looked like OG had a chance in the best-of-three series. Spirit are one of the best CS2 teams in the world, while OG is still trying to build a great Counter-Strike project.

Not only was Spirit’s teamplay on point, but donk and sh1ro had one of their best series this year. The former finished with a 37-24 K/D, while the latter got 36 frags and just 17 deaths. Donk was also responsible by the best play of the series, a nasty quad kill with the Desert Eagle.

HEROIC sweep Complexity at BLAST Premier Fall Groups

Although HEROIC played without their star AWPer degster, they beat Complexity just fine with only riflers. The head coach sAw held his own despite having retired as a pro player in November 2020, and finished with a respectful 27-30 K-D.

There’s also two tickets to the BLAST Premier Fall Final up for grabs.

The other HEROIC players, however, made up for their coach. While everyone else played well, René “TeSeS” Madsen and Guy “NertZ” Iluz shined the most and combined for a whopping 91 kills in just 51 rounds. NertZ also delivered a neat highlight with three sharp heashots with the M4A1-S.
