Yearwood turned 59 on Tuesday, and Brooks, 61, marked the occasion with a photo shared to Instagram that featured the couple holding up a chocolate cake.
“All hail the Queen!!!! love, g” hecaptioned the post.
“Join us in wishing a HAPPY BIRTHDAY to the Queen @TrishaYearwood!!!! To the woman who brings inspiration, comfort, kindness and love into our hearts every day of the year, today we celebrate YOU!” the caption read. “The world is a better place with you in it —- and country music and what’s on our tables wouldn’t be the same without you!!!”
As it turns out, the chocolate cake being shown off in the Instagram shot was one of Brooks’ own creation — and marked the very first time he’d ever tried his hand at baking a cake.
The singer explained in aFacebook Live videothat he’d made the triple chocolate cake brownie with peanut butter frosting himself, and that although he’d struggled a bit in the kitchen, was proud of how it all came together.
“I live with a chef. I got some tips,” he said in the beginning of the video. “It wasn’t good, trust me. It was pretty hideous, pretty horrible. But… we’ll see if she likes it.”
Yearwood, of course, is known for her kitchen skills, and has authored multiple cookbooks. She also hosted the Emmy-winning seriesTrisha’s Southern Kitchenfor years on Food Network.
After a video of the “She’s In Love with the Boy” singer flashed on screen — and Brooks said he thinks she “looks more beautiful than she ever has” — she entered the room, holding the cake on a platter and singing, “Happy birthday to me” as she greeted her husband with a kiss.
Brooks then went on to explain the various setbacks he’d endured while whipping it up before Yearwood finally dug in.

“I will tell you this — my buddies all said, ‘Is it any good?’” he said. “I said, ‘It doesn’t matter, she’s gonna give me points for trying.’ I’ve never baked a cake before.”
After a few bites, Yearwood confirmed that she was a fan of the dessert, telling Brooks, “I’m not just being nice, this is really good.”
The couple, who tied the knot in 2005, then went on to answer a few questions from fans, and bantered back and forth as they talked about Brooks’Las Vegas residency.
Yearwood eventually left Brooks to finish off his Facebook Live video, and the country star joked to his wife, “You really take the cake, I want you to know that” as she left.
In June, Brooks revealed that he “declined” Yearwood’s offer toofficially change her last nameto Brooks.
“Jack Yearwood had two daughters: That Yearwood name is Trisha. I’d be fine changing my name to Yearwood,” he said at a press conference, according to Taste of Country. “Tradition doesn’t count here. What counts is when you have two celebrities, don’t have one swallow the other.”
