According to theLA Times , a drone crashed into wires lining Larrabee Street and Sunset Boulevard about 1:15 Tuesday afternoon , knocking one of the wires to the ground and cutting power to nearly 700 Southern California Edison customer . The great power company repaired the damage within three hour , but noted it ’s the first time they ’ve had a dawdler take out power .
Although this particular incident likely is n’t the end of the world , it will tally fuel to governor ’s plans toregister dronesin the United States . California in special is a hotbed for incident , with four pilots coming into LAX reporting near misses just this month .

That — and the920 drone sightingsreported to the FAA nationwide by pilot film this class — has prompted theDepartment of Transportationto put together a task force , which will create some sort of poke registry in the coming month .
