There are 21 characters in total at the time of this article’s publication. Each hero has their own set of abilities. Since this game is currently in its early development build, Valve may add more heroes in the future.

Deadlock release date and time
In terms of the game’s release date, Valve has not revealed an exact date and time yet. According to Deadlock’s official Steam page, the game is still in its early development stages. It features temporary art and experimental gameplay. Additionally, current access to Deadlock is limited. This means it’s only available through friend invites via playtesters.
Interested players can, however, add Deadlock to their Steam wishlist. Players will receive an email when the game is released.
