Astebreed developer spotlights this summer’s hot Japanese indies

Comiket, the world’s largest festival for self-published media, begins today. Over the course of the weekend, more than half a million people will descend on the Tokyo Big Sight exhibition center. Their mission? To acquire rare goods directly from the people that make them.

The streets of Ariake will soon be flooded with independently produced manga, anime and videogames — some of which are highlighted in this reel put together byEdelweiss, the doujin studio behindAstebreed. Think of it as a sneak peek at Japanese indie games publishers like Playism, Carpe Fulgur, and Nyu Media might one day bring to western markets.
