Of the three HB archetypes in College Football 25 Road to Glory, we have had the most success with the Elusive Back archetype. This playstyle gives your back great speed capabilities for open-field running or beating someone deep on a route but also makes them slithery with the ball when trying to get between the tackles. We chose this archetype over Power Back and Receiving Back.
When trying this out with a 5-star recruit at a Pro Style school like Nebraska, we really enjoyed how much we were given the ball and what we were able to do immediately as a freshman. When testing out a Power Back in the same scenario, it was a somewhat similar experience, just with less breakaway speed and a more difficult time dodging would-be tacklers.

For those looking to play a hybrid of receiver and running back, you can certainly try the Receiving Back archetype. However, in our experience, this is a pretty difficult one to have fun with and we’d recommend just playing as a WR at that point. But, as is the beauty of Road to Glory, you can try as many different builds as you’d like.
With a QB, school choice isn’t as important as you are getting the ball on every play. But, as a HB, ensure you are with a program that will give you the ball consistently. Otherwise, you’ll be seeing a lot of repeat animations of your player jogging off the field and simming a handful of plays. Not fun.
