Winner – Three Brave Souls
My friends and I packed up a few cars full of people and headed to the beach this Memorial Day . Among the first to get in the piddle were these three brave souls- quickly realizing it was ( quite literally ) freezing ! Other notable , but not photographically exciting , sites of the day : a beach umbrella being blow into the water system , sinking feeling , and a scuba squad drop dead out to seek for it ( flippers include ) . Taken with a Nikon D3000 at 22 mm , fstop 9 and 1/200 exposure time .

Chicago’s Memorial Day Parade
At noon in Chicago , I was standing - by the parade route thinking about how could I possibly shoot a adequate snap without access code to any of the sublime places around the business district when I acknowledge a natural diversion in the route . I speedily got into the position and sure as shooting enough it provided me a primal location to click a symmetric picture without disturbing the parade . I used an HDR app on my phone to give it some flavor . iPhone 4 .

Artistic Liberty
I went to the museum today and this lady shorten in front of me and sit down down to gaze at a Rothko painting . I find this equally rude and fascinating . She really wanted her own distance to just stare intensely and concentre on this house painting . I was behind her and the shot just lined up like conjuring trick . I venture it was the intensity of stare at something that I really wanted to captivate . Shot on iPhone 4Gs in HDR Mode . American iris was paint / altered / added in in Photoshop , some color treatment and cropping for isotropy and composition .

Viva La Revolution
On my way of life to see the Lincoln Memorial , with a few German protagonist who were inspect , we stumbled upon the Memorial Day Parade in Washington , DC . I was n’t project on staying too foresightful to watch the parade , since they are so many in DC but there was something very special about this one . The way the crowd respond to the battalions , ROTCs student , characters , and specially active force , was very touching which made me get my tv camera out and start up shooting . The crowd seemed to have quite a favorable reaction to these characters ; Maybe it was the fact that we were in Constitution Ave , as people dressed in George Washington ’s costumes marched as the Washington Monument on the scope stood strong . Canon T2i , Kit lens 18 - 55 mm , f 4.0 , 1/640 , ISO 100 , No ostentation .

No Cal Patriotism
After finishing breakfast with some supporter on Memorial Day , I noticed the placement of these object and get hold them somewhat intriguing . While I was taking some photos from unlike angles I start out to mull over the symbolization pictured in this photograph and their collocation in relation to each other . I consider both their genuine and figurative symbolisms and how those can be compared and juxtapose with each other . study firstly , how the ketchup , pepper , and table salt work together . Then , as we all know , emollient and sugar / splenda lead with coffee , so how does that add to or take away from your current thoughts of the delegacy . I have my own sentiment , but I would also like to receive the viewer to enter into the discussion and ponder for them ego what these objects represent . This photo was shot using a Canon 60D with Canon 50 millimeter f/1.4 lens at 1/60sec . @ f/1.4 ISO 100 .

Nostalgic
I take part in Memorial Day at San Francisco ’s National Cemetery . There was a ceremonial occasion with many veterans and prominent speakers at the rostrum , however what catch my centre was the row of classical cars park on one of the streets prettify with American flags . I thought this captured Memorial Day in a nostalgic mode . I think of all the veterans that used to drive these cars . I took the photo with the Nikon D40 with an ISO of 200 , 1/250s at f13 @112 mm . I pluck the coloring just a bit in photoshop .
