3Upload
Developed by Greg Daniels, a prolific writer known for his work onThe Office,King of the Hill, andParks and Recreation,Uploadbegins with an intriguing premise about the aftermath of a man’s premature death. The man, Nathan Brown (played by Robbie Amell ofThe FlashandThe Witcheracclaim), has his consciousness uploaded into a virtual world, which requires an adjustment period, to say the least.
Uploadseason 1 premiered back in 2020 and has received favorable reviews from critics and audiences alike, resulting in aRotten Tomatoesscore of 89%. Viewers who have already seenUploadcall the series “fun,” “creative,” and “surprisingly thoughtful” onIMDB. For these reasons,Uploadis a very easy show to fall into and an even easier one to keep coming back to, thanks to its light-hearted tone and intriguing story.
Upload’sepisodes generally run between 24 and 32 minutes, making it possible to binge the entire 10-part first season this weekend alone. Season 2 only has seven episodes, while season 3 was bumped back up to eight, resulting in 25 total episodes to get through before the 4-part final season releases towards the end of this month.

2A League of Their Own
Inspired by the classic 1992 Tom Hanks baseball movie of the same name,A League of Their Ownis one of the best original sports miniseries streaming nowon Prime Video. Just like the film, it takes place in World War II-era America and follows a professional women’s baseball league.
In a similar vein to Amazon’s 2024 adaptation of the 2005 classic spy action movieMr. & Mrs. Smith, Prime Video’sA League of Their Owntakes the original movie concept and reimagines it with new storylines and characters. It is certainly not a remake or extension of the film by any means, so you don’t even have to have seen the movie to dive into it.
Developed for television by Will Graham (Mozart in the Jungle,Daisy Jones & The Six) and Abbi Jacobson (Broad City),A League of Their Ownreceived an outstanding Certified FreshRotten Tomatoesscore of 95%, which was much higher than the 82% of theclassic movie that coined the phrase, “There’s no crying in baseball!”.
Jacobson, who co-createdA League of Their Own, also stars as the series protagonist, Carson Shaw, the catcher of the Rockford Peaches baseball team. Jacobson was joined by D’Arcy Carden (The Good Place,Barry), Chanté Adams (A Man in Full,Roxanne), Roberta Colindrew (Eric,Cassandro), Kelly McCormick (George & Tammy,Sorry, Baby), and Kate Berlant (Dream Scenario,The Bear).
Surprisingly,A League of Their Owndid not get nominated for any Emmy Awards following its release in August 2022. Nearly three years after its premiere, however, it still makes for a perfect late summer watch due to the multiple outdoor baseball scenes, creating a similar nostalgic atmosphere to the beloved sports movie,The Sandlot.
Amazon had originally planned to make a second season ofA League of Their Ownbefore the 2023 WGA strike halted development and ultimately resulted in the premature death of the series.
Despite its critical acclaim, Amazon chose to scrap the anticipated four-episode final season project altogether. Still, it makes for one of the most critically acclaimed yet underrated series on Prime Video that should have had a second season but did not due to uncontrollable circumstances.
1Reacher
Reachergave Alan Ritchson his platform towards superstardom when it premiered back in 2022 and paved the way for him to become a major Hollywood action star. He’s set to have the lead roles in upcoming movies such asRunner,War Machine,Painter, andPlaydatebased on his massive success as the one and only Jack Reacher.
Ritchson took the reins of the Jack Reacher character, which was sourced from Lee Child’s celebrated book series, from none other thanTop Gunstar Tom Cruise. While Cruise did a fine job as Jack Reacher in two feature films during the 2010s, fans have celebratedRitchson’s portrayal as the definitive version of the ass-kicking ex-military character.
Reacheris a bit of a vigilante and a drifter who plays by his own rules in the books and the Prime Video series. In season 1, he investigates a local conspiracy in a small, rural town of Margrave, Georgia. He uses his tactical and technical skills to solve crimes, often working in tandem with law enforcement officers to ascertain the truth.
Reacheris often motivated by vengeance more than justice throughout the first three seasons of the Prime Video series, all of which are separate adaptations of Lee Child novels. With dozens of books already published,Reachercould feasibly continue for a double-digit number of seasons, making it a great investment of viewers' time and attention.
Reacherseason 3, which was released earlier this year, may be the best season of the series yet as Reacher goes undercover trying to locate a missing woman in coastal Maine. Season 4, which is currently in production and will be released in 2026, will adapt the novelGone Tomorrow, which starts with one of the best and most thrilling scenes in franchise history.
Whether you’re new toReacheror can’t get enough, the series is one of the safest bets for pure entertainment value and one of the best ways to get the most out of yourPrime Videosubscription this weekend.
